» Roberts Leaves 'TQR:
 As reported this morning via Twitter and Facebook, Clear Channel's WTQR/Greensboro is searching for a PD following the exit of John Roberts.
Market manager Kim Pyle tells Country Aircheck interested parties can submit materials here, but no calls, please.
A five-year station vet, Roberts programmed 'TQR exclusively beginning in 2008 (CAT 1/08/08) after doubling as PD for CC sister WKKT/Charlotte for a year.
Roberts, who has also logged time at then-Country KIKK/Houston, helped lead 'TQR to back-to-back station highs among persons 6+ in the January and February PPM.

» Brown Exits WFUS:
 Clear Channel's WFUS/Tampa APD/MD/midday host Downtown Billy Brown exits the station he joined last July (CAT 7/23).
Sister KCCY/Colorado Springs personality Val Hart will voicetrack middays while WFUS PD Travis Daily seeks Brown's replacement.

» Manning Up & It Is Good:
 Industry vet Lisa Manning will join Cumulus' WSM-FM/Nashville as afternoon host beginning Monday (4/25), replacing Russ Penuell, who exited in February (CAT 2/22).
Manning has been in the Nashville market for 18 years, with stops at WJXA (Mix 92.9), WKDF and, most recently, WSM-AM.
Additionally, former WKDF Dir./Promotion Megan Good joins the cluster in the same role, overseeing WSM-FM, News/Talk WWTN and Top 40 WNFN. |
» Rater Than You Think: Arbitron's release schedule of the rest of March's PPM market data has shifted this year owing to Passover and Good Friday.
Usually issued across four consecutive days, the remaining reports will be dispatched tomorrow (4/20), Thursday (4/21) and Monday (4/24). |
» Bend Don't Break:
 Riverbend Communications/Idaho Falls, ID President Jim Borgoyne has been named COO for Frandsen Media, which operates radio groups in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming, including Country KUPI/Idaho Falls, ID; KQPI/Pocatello, ID; KKEX/Logan, UT; and KONY/Cedar City, UT.
Concurrently, KSL-TV, KSL-AM & KSL.com/Salt Lake City VP/Marketing & Promotions Steve Poulsen has been named GM for Riverbend's five-station cluster, which includes Country KTHK/Idaho Falls, ID.
Riverbend VP/Ops DeLyn Hendricks has taken a similar position with crosstown Rich Broadcasting's four-station cluster, which includes Country KID.
Plans for the position Hendricks vacated at Riverbend are still being discussed. |
» Hardy Time:
 Capitol & EMI Nashville Coord./Marketing Allison Hardy has been promoted to Mgr./Media & Public Relations, reporting to Sr.
Dir.
Lori Genes Christian.
She replaces Ann Inman, who will soon surface at another Nashville label group.

» Seven Up:
 After a decade of ownership in the metro, Pamal Broadcasting has sold its seven-station Gainesville cluster including Classic Country WDHV-AM & FM to MARC Radio Group, a Winter Park, FL-based partnership of veteran broadcasters Tom Hauff, Bob Longwell and Mike Schweitzer.
Shawn Portmann will take over as President of the cluster.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

» Special K: Guaranty Broadcasting's Classic Country WYPY/Baton Rouge has moved from its 107.3 signal to 104.9, replacing Alternative KNXX.
Back on 107.3, Guaranty installed a Talk format featuring syndicated personalities Dave Ramsey and Dennis Miller.
Because of the physical location of 104.9, the "W" has been replaced and the station is now KYPY. |
» Storm Damage:
 Storms and tornadoes that ripped through North Carolina over the weekend took out the tower for Curtis Media's "Country Legends" WQDR-AM/Raleigh, and the station's been off the air since Saturday.
Curtis Media President Phil Zachary tells Country Aircheck, "I think we can get back up to some level of broadcasting within 72 hours, but full power will be tricky and take as long as two months." Although the transmitter building and everything in it are fine, the actual tower will have to be completely replaced, according to Zachary.

 Entertainment attorney Nancy Eckert and booking vet Louis Newman have formed Flying Island Entertainment, offering career and brand services for both new and established artists.
The company already has a radio division, headed by Grassroots Promotion's Nancy Tunick.
She'll continue with Grassroots, but as a label and promotion consultant for Flying Island she's looking to staff a promotion team.
